Expeditions by terrain · Where do you want to go?
Curated journeys across mountains, rivers, oceans, landscapes and wildlife territories, in India and around the world.
The proposition
We create journeys with a purpose. We enter the field to experience places, understand landscapes, meet people, observe wildlife and document what we find. We go there to experience it, document it, and tell the story.
A journey may become a film, a photography project, a field story, a journal or educational material. Each expedition states the outputs it is actually producing; nothing is claimed by default.

Common questions
What is a Planet Trotter expedition?
A field journey with a defined mission: to experience a landscape, meet its people, observe its wildlife and document what is found. The journey is the beginning; the documentation becomes the story, and the story can become a film, photography project or field journal.
Can I join a Planet Trotter expedition?
Expeditions marked Upcoming accept applications. Each expedition defines who it is for, and applications are reviewed by the expedition team; participation is curated, not sold as a package.
Does Planet Trotter make documentary films?
Yes. Films grow out of expeditions: Dawn: A Project of Belief, The Last Horizon and High Altitude: A Valley's Flag are currently in pre-production. Films may be submitted to appropriate film festivals in India and internationally, subject to editorial completion, eligibility and festival selection.
What types of expeditions does Planet Trotter organise?
Journeys across five field environments: mountains, rivers, oceans, land and wildlife, in India and around the world. Each expedition page states its type, status, mission and outputs; nothing is presented as confirmed unless it is.
How can I participate as a photographer or filmmaker?
The expedition application form lets you apply as a photographer, filmmaker, writer, researcher, naturalist or field assistant, with your portfolio, equipment and proposed contribution.
